"An authentic faith...always involves a deep desire to change the world, to transmit values, to leave this earth somehow better than we found it." --
Evangelii Gaudium, no. 183
As Catholics, we are called to participate in public life in a manner which is consistent with the mission of our Lord, with well-formed consciences and with hope. In an effort to assist Catholic voters and the broader community, the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops conducts the
Candidate Questionnaire Project (CQP) each election cycle. Being familiar with candidates' positions on issues involving human life, dignity and the common good is essential to responsible, faithful citizenship.
The CQP asks all 2016 U.S. Congressional and Florida legislative candidates to participate in a questionnaire regarding their positions on eight public policy issues of concern to the Church. Since it is not possible for any one survey to address every area of concern, special care has been taken to identify issues likely to be acted on by lawmakers during the coming term. In addition to their positions on the issues, candidates have been given the opportunity to include brief comments on each question.
Early voting begins in some Florida counties on Monday, August 15. For information about early voting times and places in your area, visit the
Florida Division of Elections Early Voting pages.
